# Node SDK

The Node SDK provides a first-class JavaScript / TypeScript client for the
Ziptax API, with idiomatic patterns for Node.js backends, edge functions, and
server-rendered frontends. It includes built-in authentication, automatic
retries, TypeScript type definitions, and helpers for the full tax-calculation
and jurisdiction-lookup workflow. It ships both CommonJS and ES Module builds
and requires Node.js 18 or later.

## Implementation example

### Install

```bash
npm install @ziptax/node-sdk
```

### Import

```typescript
import { ZiptaxClient } from '@ziptax/node-sdk';
```

### Configure the client

```typescript
const client = new ZiptaxClient({
  apiKey: 'your-api-key',
});
```

### Get sales tax by address

```typescript
const result = await client.getSalesTaxByAddress({
  address: '200 Spectrum Center Drive, Irvine, CA 92618',
});
```

### Print the result

```typescript
console.log('Total Tax Rate:', result.taxSummaries?.[0]?.rate);
console.log('Base Rates:', result.baseRates);
```
