# Claude Skill

The Ziptax Claude Skill teaches Claude how to authenticate against the
Ziptax API, call the rate-lookup endpoints, and reason about the response
shape. Install it once and Claude can answer door-level sales tax
questions inside any Claude Desktop conversation.

### (Optional) Pair it with the Ziptax MCP Server

For live tool access, pair the Skill with the hosted Ziptax MCP server.
A minimal `claude_desktop_config.json` looks like:

Replace `<your-api-key>` with your Ziptax API key. This configuration
uses the `mcp-remote` adapter and requires Node installed locally. See
the [MCP Server](mcp-server) page for a direct HTTP configuration that
doesn't require Node.
